I have just installed Slackware 13.37 and I want to install Flash Player 11. My
question is, where do I put the .so file? In previous versions of Slackware
(12.0, 13.0, 13.1) I have run, usually, the plugins file is with the browser,
Firefox, SeaMonkey, etc. In 13.37, the only plugins file I can find is not
with the browser (/usr/lib/firefox-4.0), but in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins.
SeaMonkey (/usr/lib/seamonkey-2.1b) also has no plugins file. Does the
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins file provide Flash for both browsers or will I have to
create a plugins file for each browser?

System wide for Slackware x86: /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
Slackware64 :/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins
Put plugins in $HOME/.mozilla/plugins for user only.

type:in address line to check what plugins enabled.

If you use a package to install the flash player, like I have here: http://connie.slackware.com/~alien/s...player-plugin/ , it will make upgrades and removal easier. You also get a KDE control panel applet to configure the flash player if you install that package.

I have come up with another problem. eBay said that I need to upgrade Flash Player in order to use the advanced photo features. So, I installed Shockwave Flash version 11.2. r202. I went to eBay to post photos for some listings, and when I click "Add photos" absolutely nothing happens. Usually when I click on "Add photos" another window will come up from which I can choose photos on my computer. I click on my choice and it's supposed to be uploaded. When I click now, absolutely nothing happens. No window for choice comes up. Nothing. I just sits there.
I have checked for plugins that are enabled in both firefox and seamonkey and it says"
Shockwave Flash

So, apparently these plug-ins are enabled. Why can I not upload photos to eBay? The only OS I've been able to use to upload photos to eBay has been Vector Linux 6.0.
What is the problem with Slackware 13.37 uploading photos?

If there is no information what version you are running, your computer might be old.

Run

and see list of 'flags'. If there is 'sse', you need Flash Player 10. ( seeing 'sse2' is okay for Flash Player 11 )

Get the latest 10.3.183.50 using:

Archived Flash Player versions

Finally, about Java plugin.

Firefox gives you: "Missing JAVA? For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. " when you click on "Check to see if your plugins are up to date" in Add-ons Manager.

Yet your outdated Java (TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_25 is enabled.

It's a freaking shame, considering all those security experts recommendations to disable Java plugin, that out-of-the-box Slackware 13.37 runs outdated Java plugin on Firefox by default.

I don't either sse or sse2.

You could be on to something about needing another version. When I used the original version, it did at least go to the upload window, although it never uploaded anything. I waited as long as 30 minutes and it still said "uploading".
I'll check out the other info you gave me . Thanks.

P.S. I have two other computers (built at the moment) that have faster processors and most likely have the sse and sse2 capabilities. I'll install Slackware on one of those and see how it goes. Thanks again.
