installed curretnt dvd iso using 15 mirror to keep it updated what ...
what trouble am I putting myself into by installing slack current iso and using slack 15 mirror instead of current to keep it updated and ponce's git repo to install packages?
I didn't feel like downloading the normal Slackware one having current already burned to a stick. (this is not my main OS just another added to grub multi boot) I just wanted to try normal Slackware as it has been a long time not being on current to see what it offers and such.
Good luck using upgradepkg to roll back every package to its 15.0 version. I imagine when you "upgrade" the aaa_* packages lots of things will stop working due to missing libraries.
Why not try it in a VM first and report how quickly it breaks?
Although in theory you should (maybe?) be able to find an order to downgrade all the packages to their 15.0 state without breaking anything.
the unofficial repository for current is meant for current: packages are removed, some new versions won't build on stable, etc...
you can use some updated scripts hosted in it on stable but only if you know exactly what you are doing, for general use just don't.

thanks I just figured out how to get obs studio working using bobs stuff and that installed went blank screen on me after I left the room I figured I might be playing with too much fire on that one. downloading the reg 15 now. as it was blind video booting and I suppose it will again after i reinstall a reg 15, as I basically screwed it up having to dump it in the middle of upgrading or mixing up packages anyways.
I was just being lazy with it already having that on a stick and not wanting to wait for a reg iso to download, being its not a main system on my laptop just another distro install, but I am doing it now anyways but Iat least I figured out how to get obs studio working in that process. so I got something accomplished. because now it is working on this one which is current.
Agreed! Mixing packages from stable and -current is a bad idea. In my opinion it is a saner choice to pick a branch and stick to that.
yeah as this current no matter what when you pick which mirror asked you are you sure? I was figuring it might just do secrity files, but was not sure. then that ponce or not ponce issue... it almost x mass I must be board .
