btw it doesn't matter that you have different partitions until you go to fix lilo from a rescue cd and then you have to make sure you mount all the needed partitions in the right places to run lilo after you update the config file. Can get tricky but workable.

i'm not figuring out how to removepkg from the slack1 CD.

i did root=/dev/sda8, boot=/dev/sda3, usr=/dev/sda5 but for some reason the /var/log/packages is a link to /mnt/dev/.../packages

???

sorry i dont have the exact verbage (i seem to remember it being something from the cd) and so when i tried:
removepkg /var/log/packages/lilo*

it says something like 'no package "lilo*"'

i tried to ls var/log/packages/ but it says not a directory. does something create a link for the slack11 CD1 when it boots up? can i remove the link afterwards?

also after i mount /boot and ls boot i see nothing (but therre should be like 3/4 kernels and .maps there.

@bioe007:
If you are not sure, what the exact package name is, use pkgtool --> remove, find lilo in the generated list, use space to select it and it will be removed

ifr you use removepkg /var/log/packages/lilo, you have to submit the correct package name. Try pressing tab for auto completion of file names.
