I have a problem i started to like Slackware more than Gentoo

i used Funtoo for many years then i switched to Gentoo when Funtoo got rid of multilib. I used Gentoo for many years too i still do, but im starting to like Slackware more, i cant believe this could be possible.

From Gentoo to Slackware sounds like a huge jump to me. Gentoo is so bleeding edge that you have to update it practically every day, while a Slackware release is so stable that you can update it once a month and see hardly anything new come across.

My first distro ever was Gentoo. Bad choice for a newbie, btw. My second distro was Slackware. Felt good at the time: got off that constant upgrade, break & fix treadmill.

Welcome to Slackware! As nobodino said, once you Slack you always come back. I haven't had the pleasure of Gentoo or LFS. I run Arch in a VM.
Slackware 15 is going to be amazing.

Gentoo is all about choices, whatever solutions are available in Linux you can choose to do it in Gentoo, doing Slackware is quite an unusual choice even for Gentoo ...

Like is not a reason to choose OS. There are other reasons: functionality, support, maintenance, etc. Despite possible first impression Slackware is not community based distro. One can beg for years for something and never got it. From other hand past artifacts - ancient past - are still present in Slackware. Beyond "likes" there are plenty of "dislikes". Zealots accept anything without questions - which is evidently wrong. To hail Slackware all the time is counter-productive. Bucket of cold water on head is a good thing. If you plan to be new zealot - waste of time. But try to employ your experience with Gentoo - and we all benefit of this. Said that I use Slackware from the first day of my membership in LQ.

Thanks to nobodino and ponce for help fixing a few sources that wouldn't
build properly. Overnight I tested recompiling everything using gcc-10.3.0-RC
and had no build failures, so we'll be taking gcc-10.3.0 once it (and new
kernels) arrive probably sometime next week. And then I think we'll be calling
this a beta. Cheers! :-)

Really bored today so I installed Arch on bare metal, it runs well. One day I may try Gentoo. For now I'll stick with Debian, Arch, and Slackware (in no particular order).
