Can I've more than 6 virt consoles (and can I launch more than 2 GUIs simultaneosly)?

Can I have more than 6 virtual consoles (and can I launch more than 2 GUIs simultaneously)?
About GUIs. I can only launch the two. One running 'startx', another running 'kdm' or 'gdm'. I can't run 'kdm', or 'gdm' more than once. Please, tell me where and what to write.
Thanks.

kdm or gdm's configuration can be altered to permit more GUIs, though, depending on your system, it may become taxing to run so many X servers.

startx can run as many GUI's as your system can support - usually six

The command
startx -- :0
will start a GUI on the first console, then :1 will start a second, and so on. .

Yeah, that works, 1&1is2. Thanks. But I can start them only within F7-F12. Can I assign more keys for this purpose? And I wasn't answered yet how to use more than 6 virtual consoles... Any suggestion?
Thanks.

Yes, it's possible, but I can't rmemeber how off the top of my head.

The main problem you face is that there are only 12 function keys, so to switch to screen 13+ you'll need to assign more keys. I have about 20 function keys assigned on my PC thanks to xmodmap and xev, but I don't know that that'll help much in this situation.

And why do you want one computer to have more than a dozen different sessions at once? If you just need more sessions for multitasking purposes, the "screen" console application and a multiple-screen window manager would be a far easier option. . .
