So far I am on xfce - nicely polished. No issue at all except can't manage fullscreen under vbox. Slackware -current just nicely polished. Seem these years of waiting reward us with exceptional quality Linux distribution. I salute to Mr Volkerding - he is truly a genius - he can foresee a future.
Distribution: VM Host: Slackware-current, VM Guests: Artix, Venom, antiX, Gentoo, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, OpenIndiana

of course VM client Slackware will run full screen. Even OpenBSD without vbox drivers runs full screen in VM (virtualbox).
I assume that your VM client is set up with VMSVGA drivers.
You will have to switch to VBoxSVGA. However do not set this up from the settings panel because you will loose 3D acceleration.
Instead from the overview panel, left click on Graphic Controller: and change it to VBoxSVGA.
You can also increase video memory to 256MB exactly the same way.
Remember that if you have enabled 3D Acceleration, each time you change any setting from Settings panel, it will reverse to VMSVGA so you will need to switch back to VBoxSVGA.
If you don't enable 3D acceleration, VM manager may not change video cards. I am not sure about this as I never run VM clients without 3D acceleration (if drivers exists).
In some setups with xfce (distro dependent), video settings were a bit stubborn, but eventually it always works.
@Aeterna thanks for your help. You right I set guest with VMSVGA driver. Fun thing I noticed is seamless mode. It is like having two systems glued all together. Running app in guest is completely transparent.
Edit: I solved problem with fullscreen. Unimaginable - vbox has capability to set option's visibility in menus - just fullscreen option was not marked to be shown in menu. My jaws drop when I realized this. It is not about machine settings but vbox interface.

for me with VMSVGA enabled, virtual screen options are grayed out.
I don't like seamless mode because it it prevents me from fast switching from one VM client to another and to host.
I'm looking forward to 15.0 being released so I can upgrade my computers to it!
I enjoy being a beta tester; I'm running Slackware64-current with KDE5 on three desktops and two laptops. It's smooth as silk. You're going to like it a lot I think.
hitest, my daily driver is now running Slackware64-current with KDE5, tweaking away, this plasma thing anything windows/apple? or have kde devs created their own look and feel?

I used to like being a beta tester, but my schedule just doesn't allow for the time right now. Hopefully in the future I can get back to it, but it won't be for at least a few years.
You find time for the important things. I'm still running Slackware and mostly keeping up with the SlackBuilds I maintain. And I still try and read every post on the forum.
