well, I tried to remove my jdk6 from pgktool, but it just says"NO PACKAGES REMOVED", and the jdk6 can still be seen from view... However, when I tried to check "java" and "javac", it just says "command not found"... that's weird...
probably you install jre package as well?
javac is part of jdk, not jre
well, I checked "java" and "javac", and both of them not working... And in the pkgtool, jdk6 is there... So I'm thinking about remove it and reinstall... but pkgtool just says "No package removed"...
In addition, make sure to check Java plugin.
In my particular case, Slackware 13.37 (I reinstalled it a few months ago) was running outdated Java plugin on Firefox.
Firefox gave me: "Missing JAVA? For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java." when I clicked on "Check to see if your plugins are up to date" in Add-ons Manager.
Yet outdated Java (TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_25 was enabled.
