Post How to migrate public and private keys to another computer?

I need to migrate my keys to another machine and make a secure backup. What better way to do this?

You can simply copy them to the other computer via external media (if the computers are not connected) or via ssh over a network. If you are using a physical media, it should be encrypted for best security. For ssh keys, copying ~/.ssh will backup both your private and public keys. I can't recall where pgp keys are stored, possibly ~/.gpg for OpenPGP.

You may have to be more specific.

ssh configuration (which is used to authenticate remote shell connections, both incoming and outgoing) is stored in $HOME/.ssh/

gpg configuration (which is used to encrypt, decrypt, sign, and verify files) is stored in $HOME/.gnupg/

SCP Could be a best method of exchanging keys between two host.
