Easy way to update firefox

Go to the Help screen in firefox, Click, check for updates. If you are using 3.04 or etc it will update to 3.09 first then just click it again and it will update to 3.5 etc you will never have to compile on slack.

To update to Firefox 3.5.x on 12.2, I copied the 13.0 mozilla-firefox sources directory to my build directory.

I then grabbed the latest Firefox sources from the 13.0 patches sources.

I edited my copied SlackBuild to the new version and built a new package.

Relatively straightforward.

All I had to do was upgrade via slackpkg, it gives you an option to choose which packages to upgrade.

Couldn't you upgrade from the firefox's help menu? I always use that method.

I don't know why, but "check for updates" in help menu is always grayed out for me. Besides using slackpkg, you get to know about all the available updates.

EDIT: It is because I'm not running as root as mRgOBLIN says. Thnx for the point.
