how to change wmaker menus and stuff in slack

Hi. Well I finally got slackware 8.1 to dual boot with win98 on my HDD (YES!!). In Redhat I had wmakerconf to change things such as colors, fonts, and edit menus in WindowMaker. Well don't have it in slack and really don't want it right now. I cd'd to GNUstep/Defaults to edit the WMaker config files manually. Some of the entries will work but others like adding new items to the menu don't (such as adding 'mozilla' to the right-click menu) even after restarting x. Questions are>

Does Slackware dist have a command or program to edit the Wmaker various settings?

And is there also a way to do it manually, such as I did above and make it accept the new changes?

thanks alot.
Man, I like slack after coming from bloated Redhat. Don't even have KDE or GNOME installed. Now I can concentrate on the system and programming.

Hi!
To configure WindowMaker, just click on the Wprefs icon, under the dock (its greenish).

thnks refried! forgot about that thing!! That's cool but if I go into GNUstep/Defaults and edit the config files to add say a new entry to the menu such as 'mozilla' shouldn't it add it to the menu after I save the edited config file??

thanks!

Well, In windowmaker I never edit the config files by hand, unless I want to do some serious tweaking for themes.

Usually changing the menu just involves firing up wprefs, going to the menu area, and draggins stuff around;

When you open wprefs, and go into the menu area, another menu appears,, this one is just for editing the real menu,, in other words, you make this 'edit menu' look like you want the 'real' menu to look like, so after you press 'save', the 'real' menu should look like what you made the 'edit' menu look like.

Ok, by 'dragging' I mean the following,

To delete something (submenu, program name), just drag in out of the 'edit' menu, and release the mouse button. And it disappears.

To add something (A button to run a program, or a submenu or whatever), just drag it from within wprefs to the 'edit' menu, and release the mouse button.

To Rename something, double click on its name, change it to what you want, and press enter.

In other words, just fiddle around. Its actually quite intuitive.

Have Fun!
