How to change CHOST?

Hello guys. i'd like to know how do i change my CHOST variable. i've found some i18n on the gentoo wiki, but it is too much directed towards gentoo, and i don't know if it'll work in slack. here is the link to the gentoo wiki http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/change-chost.xml

if some1 could help me translate that to slack, i'd appreciate. thx in advance

I would have thought the basic principles can be used more or less directly. E.g. first rebuild packages in this order:
Code:
emerge -av1 binutils gcc glibc
I.e. binutils, gcc and lastly glibc.

I guess there would be some difference in the way the environment variables etc is set up.
