How to access a usb from tty before x starts to install a video driver

So here I am once again without support for my gfx card (GTX 470). Nouveau support comes and goes. 14.1 64B works fine but no driver for 14.1 32B. In the past on a new install I would use Linx and download the driver from invidia before trying to startx. Wanting to try steam on linux I decided to wipe my 14.1 64B install and go 32B. I have done multi lib before but thought the straight 32B install would be easier. I forgot I went totally wireless and now cant download the driver. My two options are get wpa encrypted wireless working or put the driver on a usb and install from there. Just wondering how to access a usb from tty.

plug in the USB stick
type "cat /proc/partitions" to know partition's name. I'll assume it's /dev/sdb1
su # you'll need root privileges for next command
mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt

PS: edited, I first wrote cat /proc/mount/ that was obviously wrong. I shouldn't post late at night

Thanks. I just googled it and realized I already knew what to do. Was just mad that there is no support again and not thinking.

Now I fall into that should have searched before posting group.

Minor point ...

@Didier - Did this change in release 14.1? My Slackware64 14.0 uses "/proc/mounts" (note the 's'). Or was it just a typo on your post?

EDIT: The cat command doesn't work with the trailing '/'. "cat /proc/mounts" works fine for me in Slackware64 14.0.

I don't mean to be picky, just accurate.

Didnt work for me too. I used #cfdisk -l. Then #mkdir /media/usb. Then #mount /dev/sdc /media/usb.

I really meant cat /proc/partitions and edited post #2 accordingly, sorry.
