I use asterisk on my slackbox as my voip pbx. The install calls for aftpd from ftp://ftp.mamalinux.com/pub/atftp/atftp-0.7.tar.gz
but I've not been able to get this for some time. Is there another way to set up a TFTP server on my box using something already there?? If so, how?
Enable the line for tftpd in /etc/inetd.conf by removing the '#' at the beginning of the line (luckily Slackware comes with tftpd-hpa which you need for Asterisk)
and reload inetd by running " /etc/rc.d/rc.inetd restart".
You still need to create the directory "/tftpboot" which will hold the boot files that tftpd will serve. This directory is the root of a secure jail (the "-s /tftproot" parameter in /etc/inetd.conf).
I am just about to get this tftp working on my slackware 11 machine. When i type the command on the cisco pix to dump the running-config unto the tftp server, i guess the following error message: %Error writing tftp://192.168.220.214//pix.cfg;int=inside (Permission denied)
This means the tftp server service is running, but i can't write to that file and/or directory, i dont' know. How do i solve this problem?
It did had to do with permissions, but not on the directory. I did have the /tftpboot directory, and at first, i gave it a 'chmod 777 /tftpboot' just to avoid having any issues. But then a friend of mine said to me: "you should give permissions not only to the directory, but to the file itself aswell". So i did and it worked just fine.
