How do I patch mutt with sidebar?

Hi slackers, I recently started using mutt (with gmail) and I would like to have a sidebar with all folders visible.
Now I have never actually patched any code (using patch).
Mutt is already included in slackware 14, but the patch not.

So how would I start?

Regards

Marcel

In this fairly-recent thread you'll see how another slacker edits the slackbuild:

https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...nt-4175418069/

However, the op in that case was having build issues and it's uncertain whether the issue is solved.

cheers,
