Lets see.. how many things are wrong with this post..
1. No Distro Posted, though at least it says Slack 9 in the profile so perhaps that's correct.
2. No Window Manager Posted. No idea if you use gnome, kde, windowbox, enlightenment...
3. No versions of settings posted. Graphical Login? Text Login? What manager?
Well, only 3. Not bad. So how bout starting over on this one and doing things like the forum rules tell you to.
1. Caeda. What is your problem? The guy's only asking for help, and you're trying to put him off. Although your criticism is valid why not try putting it more tactfully, and try supplying an answer for either Gnome, KDE, or some other Window Manager that way even if its not the right one at least you'll have been helpful.
2. Jakeyboy. If you are using KDE with Slackware 9.0/9.1, then click on the Spanner Icon on your taskbar, this brings up the Preferences Menu. Either select the Control Centre option and then select the Sound & Multimedia menu, choosing the System Notifications option, this will bring up the same option as choosing System Notifications under the Sound & Multimedia Menu from the Preferences Menu. Everything should be fairly straightforwards from there on although bear in mind that you can change sounds in certain individual programs as well, by using the drop down menu at the top of the screen.
(I've changed most of my sounds to ones from 2001:A Space Odyssey. But then my first name is Dave!)
[UNRELATED RANT]

[/UNRELATED RANT]
[]unrelated reply[/] Yea, the kernel source is around 35 megs or so.....
it does take awhile on dial-up but.............If you want the latest and greatest, just start the download before you go to bed and when you get up .......wa la......New Kernel.
I'm sorry (i can't be arsed to check what you're username is). Umm, I didn't think it was REALLY that neccesary to put my distro in again as it appears under my name in the post, yep, just look a bit left, not hard is it
