rc.hotplug causes resolution change

On bootup when all of the /etc/rc.d/* scripts are being called, the following line is printed:

/etc/rc.d/rc.hotplug start: some other text

Shortly thereafter, while hotplug still seems to be loading, the console resolution changes so that the font is much smaller. This is frustrating because I can no longer scroll up and also because my eyes had already adjusted to the previous size.

It's minor, I know, but might as well fix it if I can, right? Any ideas on how to change this?
