By default SCSI is enabled in Slackware, so if you don't have any SCSI devices you wull get errors like this. What kernel are you using? You can go into /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and comment out the line that is trying to load SCSI modules in order to fix this. You can also edit /etc/inetd.conf to turn off unnneeded services to speed up boot-time. Error handling in Linux is not too explicit- sometimes it will say 'ERROR' or even 'FATAL ERROR' instead of saying, for example, ' No SCSI devices found- ignoring modprobe command.' Same for the FAT and UMSDOS errors. If these formats are enabled in the kernel or are invoked during boot-up, then when it doesn't find anything it will say 'ERROR'. If your system boots okay it's not really a problem.
A good exercise is to study the scipts under /etc/rc.d to see how everything is started in Slackware.
