this thread is an invaluable reference on installing slackware. he has a section during the partition stages that he talks about primary vs. logical partitions, and if i remember correctly it is a limitiation of pc bios partition tables.

after posting, i glanced through keefaz's links which are far more informative than the one that i gave, but since i think it is such a nice install tutorial i will leave it in there.
