grub installation

okay this probably a dumb question how do you install grub?

I already have installed slackware 9.1. No lilo.

1. where do I download grub?

2. in installing grub can i use winxp? i would very much appreciate if i can install grub through windows like any other program. i'm not so familiar with linux yet.

Do a google search for GRUB to find out where it is. Once you get it, read the documentation to install it. If the documentation is too hard to understand, there are plenty of good howtos out there to help you along.

I've tried GRUB, and switched back to LILO pretty quick after booting to an error one day. I had to use the install disk to kick start my computer. LILO can be a little harsh, but once you get used to it, it's pretty reliable.

And no, to my knowledge, you can't install GRUB using XP.

Im really a newbie here so please be patient. I already searched the forum for grub questions but found none dealing with getting grub. A step by step tutorial would be nice.

Could someone post it here, it can't be that big of a file?
