Grub and Slack9

I get the impression from scanning posts that LILO is slack's preferred boot loader, and that if one wants to use GRUB, then it must be downloaded instead of being found on the slack cd.

Is this correct?

But you can find it in"extra" directory on every Slack ftp. I compiled and instaled GRUB (v 9.3) from tarballs on my Slack 9.0 and it works fine (of course needs some customization, but it is well described in "info" file).

I like GRUB, having had better luck with it than with LILO. It helped that GRUB is the default boot loader for both Gentoo and SuSE 8.1, both of which I've used and enjoyed.
