Red face Great problems with nvidia driver


I'm using slackware 13.47 x64
and nvidea palit 9500gt videocard.
I had installed thiese driver
After I installed nvidea driver, X window system doesn't work. It brings an error in attachment.

I don't think you've installed the correct driver.. I wouldn't use the website you linked.
You can install the driver using slackbuilds (both driver and kernel)
or simply run the NVIDIA installer from their website

I'm regularly using SBo's NVidia drivers, since most of my machines have NVidia graphic cards. You need to install the 'nvidia-driver' as well as the 'nvidia-kernel' package and then run the following command:

# nvidia-xconfig
This will spew out a usable /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

Caveat: this driver conflicts with the nouveau driver. What I usually do is either blacklist it and/or add the 'nomodeset' boot option to lilo.conf.

Hint: installing these drivers with 'sbopkg' is almost as easy as clicking on Jockey in Ubuntu

Thankyou, it helped me. But until the installation i got another error. Is it fatal for me or not?
