gdm default window manager

everything was working fine
then i started manipulating one of my user accounts...backed up files, renamed user, transferred backups, changed owner and group on all files and directories to new name, changed permissions on home directory to 771...and now at logon in gdm i get gnome automatically. i can still select kde or other window managers for the session, but i no longer get the "just for this session or make default" box. new users still work properly and can set a default...probably something simple i forgot to do, but i just can't think straight right now (lack of sleep).

Do you want to change the default DM or change the behavior of GDM?

If the former, just (as root) run pkgtool and run the config script which picks the DM. (Or just chmod -x the ones you don't want, since the shell script checks for GDM, then KDM, then XDM.)

If the latter, I have no idea 'cause I use KDM, if I use one.

Good luck!

Jim

i didn't want to change the actual dm...just the default window manager the dm set for each user

regardless, i ended up completely deleting the problematic user and re-adding the user.
fixed the problem, however i lost all my bookmarks and local settings...in the process of getting things back to how i like them
