Find slackware version.

I am trying to find out the version of slackware on a box at work. I know that it is at least version 10.0. Several searches indicated that there is a file /etc/slackware-version that can help me with this but this file doesn't exist on this box. Is there another way to find the version?

Thanks.

Code:
$ cat /etc/slackware-version
Slackware 10.0.0

If /etc/slackware-version really doesn't exist, try running 'X -version', and it gives you:

Code:
X -version

X Window System Version 1.3.0
Release Date: 19 April 2007
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 1.3
Build Operating System: Slackware 12.0 Slackware Linux Project
Current Operating System: Linux kafox 2.6.21.5 #1 Mon Sep 10 07:37:01 EEST 2007 i686
Build Date: 09 May 2007
        Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org
to make sure that you have the latest version.

OK, then look at the version of your aaa_base package. For a Slackware 10.0 release, the package file is /var/log/packages/aaa_base-10.0.0-noarch-1

You have Slackware 10.1 with 99.9% certainty:
ftp://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/...1/slackware/x/

notice the x11 version: 6.8.1
