File Conversion

Hey,

Just a wee bit of assistance requested here. I need to convert a file with the extension of .php to a file recognized by Gzip, which is .gz. I appreciate a bit of a helping hand here.

Thanks,

If you mean you need to gzip it just "gzip somefile.php", else fi you mean it was gzipped but gzip didn't recognize it ("unknown suffix -- ignored"), just "mv somefile.php somefile.php.gz" and try again, run "file somefile*" first to determine it's really a gzip file.

Maybe I need to clarify myself and my problem.

I want to download/install a pack of wallpaper from KDE-LOOK, but the file extension of the file is .php. I am getting an error that says,

"Gzip archives need to have the extension 'gz.'

So, how do I work around this?

Thanks

Hmm. What is the output of running "file" on the file you downloaded?
You may have downloaded an intermediary file, like for example Sourceforge will redirect you to a page where you first have to select a download location if you didn't have any prefs set or munged it in other ways.
