fatal server error after typing startx

Hello everyone! I have installed 12.2 smoothly and after rebooting I logged in as root and typed startx. But unfortunately, the screen came back to where it was, the terminal, because of this error.

I've also tried modifying the /etc/inittab with 4 as runlevel and got the same error.

The error was something like this:

Fatal server error
Could not open default font "fixed"

(xinit) server error errno 3
(xinit) server error...

I'm wondering what could be the problem. If it's xorg.conf I bet I've set it right just like before (yeah, I've also tried 12.1 and I didn't get any problem with my xorg setting) and I'm using the same machine. This is the first time I've such problem with startx.

Btw, during the installation I chose fluxbox as my default WM (because I wanted to try something new not only KDE). I remember way back 12.1 that I didn't get an error when I typed startx right after the installation. It quickly showed me KDE.
But now with 12.2 fluxbox I can't startx.

I will greatly appreciate any help!

It has nothing to do with fluxbox. The X server requires font packages font-misc-misc and font-cursor-misc to provide the base X Windows font 'fixed.' You also need bdftopcf, mkfontdir, mkfontscale, and xcursorgen to work with fonts and cursors. I can't remember which one (IIRC mkfontscale) is required when building font-misc-misc and font-cursor-misc.

Make sure your xorg.conf has the correct font path to the misc fonts
Code:
FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc/"
Check your font paths in /etc/fonts/fonts.conf and make sure your misc font path (as well as others) is included, then execute fc-cache -fv. Make sure it finds more than 0 fonts.

Check your misc font path (e.g., /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc) for zero size font files. If they are zero size, this is an indication you didn't have mkfontscale (IIRC) installed when installing the fonts.

Problem Solved

I checked my packages and saw that font-misc-misc isn't installed.
Thanks weibullguy for reminding me this package.
