fast pkgtool install

How would I install a .tgz file from my Slack cd with pkgtool without using the pkgtool menu?

Code:
cd directory_containing_package
installpkg package_name
or (I like this better)

Code:
cd directory_containing_package
upgradepkg --install-new package_name

Ah, installpkg! That's helpful!

So it looks like there are 5 package utilities:

pkgtool
installpkg
removepkg
upgradepkg
checkinstall

Any others?

Why do you like that better? Does it do anything different?

No --install_new is like using installpkg. It will install packages that are not currently installed on the system. It's usefull when you're upgrading and installing new packages with a single command like: upgradepkg --install_new /my/downloads/*.tgz

explodepkg is also included.
cd to a /tmp/... directory then explodepkg /full/path/to/package_name.tgz
Especially usefull for a manual approach to installing kernel packages in order to keep the old kernel untill you know for sure.
