External Firewire HD

I will make a exchange with a friend and I will buy for him a DVD recorder and I will get an external firewire case to use with any HD.... okay so Im interest in going at his house to first test the firewire connection with my linuxbox to avoid miss money buying something and make an bad deal....

But I never connected nothing Firewire to linux, so what its going to look like?

for e.g: USB is /dev/sda
so mount /dev/sda /mnt/pen

and firewire? Where the external HD will appear so I can mount it?

To see whether it's been picked up by the system at
all try the following:

dmesg | grep sd[abc]

fdisk -l

Never had a chance to lay my hands on one
yet, but since IDE drives in USB enclosures
are being picked up as SCSI I assume(d) its
a fair chance ... ;}
