I know nothing about Exchange myself, but I dont think you can find it out via a client, youll have to look at the actual server configuration, on the machine thats running it.
One frequent cause of problems is authentication. When an IMAP client is unable to connect to the IMAP inbox folder on an IMAP server (MS Exchange or anything else) it is, in my experience, almost always a mismatch in the authentication method settings.
Hmmm. The situation can be complicated when "Windows authentication" is used. In that case you would have to use SAMBA. I've never done this, and can't help with it, but I've been told that it works... somehow...
