Question /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions?

Hi everyone.

I'm tryin' to install a replication extension for PostgreSQL (http://pgreplicator.sourceforge.net) but when I run the startup script I get the following error message: " line 15: /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions: No such file or directory"

I know that the path references a RedHat installation, in fact, I'm running a sample RedHat script provided with PGReplicator, the questions are: What is the equivalent path in Slackware? What is 'functions' good for?

Any help extremely appreciated :^)

Best regards,

Carlos

You might try checking out this link:

http://www.cs.ucr.edu/~jbyrne/vmware.htm

It shows how to install vmware on Slack, but you should be able to modify the procedure that it provides for dealing with the SysV/BSD boot differences.

Enjoy!

Why would you want to install the RedHat thing
in the first place when there's a generic pgrd?

a generic pgrd?

I thought I might use the RedHat script as a template but since this script relies on /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions what I wanted to know was whether there is a way to achive the same thing in Slackware.

The link provided by Cerbere seems like good starting point, but from your answer Tink it seems that there might be an even easier way to do it. Could please elaborate a little more on the generic pgrd thing :^)

Thanks a lot for the answers!

Regards,

Carlos

Well ... just look at the unpacked tarball's
directories ....
/src/pgreplica/bin
There's a pgrd ...

All you need to do is run that from
/etc/rc.d/rc.local

Cheers,
Tink
