that "GNOME SlackBuild 2.30 is designed and built for Slackware or Slackware64 13.1 only!" i.e. forget about this, it is way too old.

Try MATE, this is a continuation of GNOME2, and the Mate SlackBuild project at https://mateslackbuilds.github.io/ is actively supporting this for Slackware 14.2 and -current.
Forget GNOME3 if you do not want to install systemd, it won't work without.
or Cinnamon which is based on GNOME 3 at https://cinnamonslackbuilds.github.io/
it's still based on previous 4.6 release (current release is 4.8), but once elogind is added into main tree, i think 4.8 is good to go as well
