error messages with external USB disk

Hello,

On slackware64-current, when using an external USB3 4TB hard disk (Samsung D3 Station), I get this kind of error message :

Quote:
[39652.527322] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdd] tag#0 UNKNOWN(0x2003) Result: hostbyte=0x07 driverbyte=0x08
[39652.527324] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdd] tag#0 Sense Key : 0x4 [current] [descriptor]
[39652.527325] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdd] tag#0 ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
[39652.527326] sd 12:0:0:0: [sdd] tag#0 CDB: opcode=0x85 85 06 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 e5 00
in 'dmesg', each time I run "smartctl -a /dev/sdd" (which gives no error)

I copied about 200 GB on it without I/O error.

What do these messages mean ?

Firstly, how is it formatted (be as descriptive as possible).
Also, I'm pretty sure SMART doesn't work over USB.

This might help (unless you posted it), dated today!

@STDOUBT thank you for this link.

The drive has a NTFS partition. "smartctl -a /dev/sdd" gives
