Easy Questions

1) In at least Slack 9 and 9.1 the setup program seems to want to default to that reiserfs file system, what is it and how does it compare to ext3?

2) What does GART mean? I know it has something to do with video or AGP, but I'm wondering if I need to install the nvidia GART patch before I install the ATI drivers on a computer with an nforce2 motherboard. On my older amd chipset motherboard I was able to just install the ati drivers, is it different now I have an nforce2?

Thanks

what is it? it's a file system.... compares very well actually, and does much of the same stuff, such as journaling. it's good, sometimes faster that ext3.

I can vouch for the Reiser file system. It does journaling and has built in recovery in the event of failure.

Resiserfs is a more robust filesystem.

A Journalling mechanism is used which makes data loss less likely. Journalling keeps a record of transactions which are to be performed, or which have been performed. This allows the filesystem to reconstruct itself fairly easily after damage caused by, for example, improper shutdowns.
