e2fsck

My pc wont start it tells me to give my pass for system matinece i give it than it said try e2fsck -v -y device so i do

e2fsck -v -y hda1
than it says The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesyste. if the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), than the supeblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate sup[erblock:
e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

so i do that and it still gives the erroer any ideas
