Dual CPU?

OK, tomorrow, i am getting a dual p3 server and i of course want to put slackware on it. someone told me i had to have a different kernel, is this true? i'm currently running slackware 10.1 on a different box, so that's what i plan on putting on the server. it's going to be for personal use only, just gonna run web server, ftp, etc. anyways, any help is much appreciated. thanks in advance

You don't need a different kernel.

You need to recompile the kernel for SMP support.

I have not used Slackware release kernel for a long time. I am not sure whether it comes compiled with SMP support.

However, if you have more then 1 Gigabyte of RAM. I am pretty sure you got to recompile the kernel for HIGHMEM support.

After u compile the kernel u will be able to use both cpu's.
But not all programs are made for dual cpu's but then diffrent programs can run on diffrent cpu's.
But is does the program support multi cpu's then it will work.
