Does Slackware/Linux suffer from fragmentation?


Like the subject says, does linux have file fragmentation? What is it that Windoze does that caues files to get all over the place.

This topic has been stomped and pounded
on so much it's flat as a stamp...

Also, the filesystem in use is NOT
specific to the distro of choice, thus
the question should be in Linx-General
in the first place :}

A very brief answer here, though: all
Linux native filesystems (ext2 or newer)
minimize (try to minimize) fragmentation
of files, however if a disk becomes very
full and you're writing some big files
fragmentation MAY occur.
