does not play system notification sound on KDE 3.4

Hi, i'm using KDE 3.4 on slackware 10.2, the problem is whenever i login as a normal user, a message box is displayed saying:

Sound server fatal error:
/tmp/mcop-sharath is accessible owned by user
but this problem never occurs when i login as root, do i have to change permissions of any file?
