Dividing a NTFS partition

Hi

I recently installed Windows XP (five minutes ago) and am now trying to install Slackware. The problem is that I chose to partition my entire 30 gig drive with the NTFS file system during the XP install and now cfdisk can't create a smaller Linux partition out of the NTFS partition. Any ideas on how this is done or do I actually have to create my Linux partition before installing XP?

Ok, I think I get the picture. I'll try to create a partition with Partition magic and see if that works, if not, i'll just reformat and allocate some space for the Linux partition during the XP install. Thanks!
