Dell Zino HD Rear Audio Output - Slackware 13.37

I've just installed (as in a couple of weeks ago ) Slackware 13.37 on my Dell Zino HD. The only issue that I have is the audio - at first I thought there are no rear audio output AT ALL (found a few discussions on those). I connected it directly to my TV (tested okay while on the pre-installed Win7) while the front output has earphones connected to it.

It turned out that the rear audio output works fine when using earphones - I guess it simply cannot drive the TV audio port. I've tried using /etc/asound.conf to add pre-amp and it does hike the volume up a bit (I think) but still nothing on my TV.

I'm not currently on the system, so I can't list the output of lspci but I think the hardware is '...Azalia..' or something.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you seen this? From http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.alsa.user/35506
Quote:
you can see HDMI Audio is currently not supported for evergreen /
N.Islands hardware. This includes everything > AMD Radeon 4xxx.
For now you can use HDMI Audio only with the binary AMD/ATI Driver.

I totally forgot that I've posted this question here! Anyways, I managed to get it working so I just want to share this - mainly, this is my current /etc/asound.conf file

Code:
pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "dmixer"
}

pcm.dsp0 {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "dmixer"
}

pcm.dmixer {
    type dmix
    ipc_key 1024
    slave {
        pcm "hw:HDMI,3"
   channels 2
        period_time 0
        period_size 1024
        buffer_size 8192
        rate 44100
     }
     bindings {
        0 0
        1 1
     }
}

ctl.mixer0 {
    type hw
    card HDMI
    device hdmi
}
I also have this file /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf (from running alsaconf?)

Code:
# --- BEGIN: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
# --- ALSACONF version 1.0.24.2 ---
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-1 snd-hda-intel
# --- END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
I'm sorry I can't remember the order I did things and other things that I may have done - I tried a lot of things, and then it works! Personally, I think these two files are the ones that made it happen. Hope this is useful to someone!
