Debug symbols packages for Slackware?

Where can I obtain debug symbols packages for Slackware so I can create more descriptive backtraces for reporting bugs? (e.g., for KDE apps?)

You have to rebuild packages yourself to obtain debugging symbols support.

I would like to see that support too, at least for some packages. If that support was not available, I'd like to see a compromise where all build scripts support the option to keep the debugging symbols, with the default being stripped. That would include slackbuilds.org build scripts too.

I like the idea of a separate debug symbol package as that requires the least total storage space on the packagers end and less confusion overall.

For Slackware itself the packages could be in a separate directory similar to extra and not include that in distribution media but rather only available as downloads as most people would not require them.

Shh! *whisper-mode* Pssst! http://fedora.osuosl.org/linux/devel...86_64/debug/k/ for kde packages. Isn't there a rpm2txz converter somewhere around here? From the kde crash handler, you can install the needed debug symbols, reload to generate a useful crash report, report the bug, then removepkg the debug symbols packages. Don't let Redhat find out I suggested lifting their debug packages, they'll install systemd on my Slackware Current when I'm not looking!

That wont work as the symbol locations are set at compile time and will vary depending on the setup used and how gcc feels that day.
