data hiding in slack


hey ..is there something similar to magic folders and gate keeper in linux.i mean...is there a decent data hiding software ..some thing which requires a password to hide a group of folders?some one plz help me out...

Not familiar with what you're referring to, but 'chmod 600' should do it. Unless you want people *not* to hide stuff. I'm not sure what you're asking.

hey..lemme make my self clear..i want some software which can hide folders and make them invisible....all my brothers use my system along with me..and i cant stop them.. all i
can do.is to make those folders invisible...some one got something to suggest?

One word for you: GPG (http://www.gnupg.org/). It's the standard on Slackware.

For more information, enter the following commands:

whatis gpg
apropos gpg
man gpg

So who's root? If it's just to keep your brothers out of your crap, dad should be root and you should just chmod everything like I said. That way only the owner (and root, of course) can see them. They'll see /home/you but that's it. Unless your brothers are ace hackers and then you need to look into the heavier guns everybody else is talking about.

hey..Norungi..thanx for suggesting thst gnupg.org link buddy..it seems interesting..but i dont think i need to install the package from the site..its already there on my slack..so..lemme dig into it and if some secret comes out..i'll reveal it....and about that loopback encryption file system..i dont think it serves my purpose..
