Crontab Help Pleas

I am trying to use crontab to do a backup

I use the command crontab -e but i can't edit the file

how do i use crontab

I am running slackware 9.0

I got it to work by going into the dir and editing the file myself

Create a text file with the cron jobs then run:
crontab /path/to/cron.file

This way you can keep a version or versions of your crontabs as backups.
EDIT: run "crontab -l" to verify that the cron jobs have been loaded.
