cpu name ?


where i can set the cpu name ? I tried in /etc/hosts but in vain...

cpu name?

what do u mean?

you want to name your cpu as 'holafastcpu' ?
i don't understand your question....

you can see your cpu info
cat /proc/cpuinfo

u mean the hostname there is not such a thing named cpu name?

Most likely he is referring to his hostname. One of the many quirks working support is some people call their computers crazy things.
The funniest one is when the old timers called theirs the 'mainframe' or 'hard drive'....

But on a side note, we don't close threads cause they are resolved. And we really enjoy it when you find an answer to your own question, you post it so it might helps others when searching for answers.

So? What is the answer to that one then? I would really like to know where too change the hostname as mine got the default from the slackware 9 install: 'dakstar'!!!
Can you post the answer?

Try the command:
hostname yourhostname
