compiling slackware from sources

well, i'm tempted by the ideea to compile the slackware 10 from the sources iso's, although i have the "setup" iso's.

i want to know, if anyone will be so kind to answer, what are the advantages/disadvantages of this (beside the long time taken by the operation, i'm aware already of that), what do i need, and what should i watch out for.

or point me to an article that can answer my question

thanx
