Chrome upgrade. Fonts too small.

Hello all.
I'm facing a problem after upgrading chrome from 74 to 91 ( but had same trouble with other versions ).
All of my fonts are completely different from what they were, and are too small for my eyes.

I've attached some screenshot of what fonts look in 74 ( fonts_good* ) and what they look now ( fonts_bad )
As you can see the difference is really big ( the windows are taken with the same settings ).

With the chrome settings I can eventually fix some of the font by using huge ( 22 or more ) font size, but tab and abbress bar fonts remain small.

Did someone has some info on how to fix this ?

If of interess, I'm on a (somehow) slackware current, but last upgraded on 2018 and then, being that it was well stable, didn't upgraded waiting for 15

Thanks in advance

Pigi

I'm not a Slackware user, and neither a Chrome user. That said, almost certainly this is a GTK3 issue, not a Slackware issue. UI fonts aren't determined in most apps by the app itself, but upon settings for the toolkit used to build the app. Font settings for GTK3 are most likely where you need to revert or make a change. Probably UI fonts in Firefox, Thunderbird and/or SeaMonkey are too small just like those in Chrome 91, while those in Falkon are probably as expected.

You could try setting a custom DPI setting in the system font settings. In xfce it's in the 'Fonts' tab of the 'Appearance' setting-let. In KDE it's the 'Fonts' settings panel (but you need to restart any applications for the setting to have an effect even after Apply is hit). They both seem to have the same options and it appears to affect everything using freetype (i.e. kde and gtk alike).

I don't use chromium but I installed it to confirm and changing DPI changes the fonts including the tab labels.

I just set a hard minimum font size in firefox and if it messes with the web page so be it. It messes with many, but I also override the typefaces so I don't care. The defaults are always stupidly small.

Thanks for the hints!
I will give a try to DPI settings, as I've tried to fix fonts from chrome settings but don't like how it behave.

Try messing with the zoom button on the 3 dots in your browser r/h tool bar.
