Choosing Specific dstro choice for Catalyst install throws errors

Went to install Catalyst again. However, when I ran fgl_glxgears and glxinfo, it reported
Code:
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
libGL error: Try again with LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose for more details.
Which I understand to mean that the installer messed up libgl versions. I ran the installer with the specific distribution:Slackware choice. When I tried again without picking a specific distro and just using the normal version, it worked. I'm just wondering if running the installer without setting it for Slackware will impact performance.

Not that I've seen. You should look at the Slackware docs page; just type catalyst Slackbuild in google; it'll take you there.

Code:
The installer will collect data about your system and will prompt for either an automatic installation or to create a distribution-specific package. Select distribution-specific package here, as it can then be managed by Slackware's packaging tools later.

When prompted to select a distribution, please Select “Detected OS: Slackware/Slackware”.
As I said if I choose automatic install it works like it should. But selecting distribution specific package gives the error I mentioned and also no direct rendering.

Hmm, well so you do use the Slackbuild; I don't know what the "Slackware" choice in Catalyst actually does. I always used to use "Other Linux" before it was an option, and never saw any difference when it became an option. I rather thought it was cosmetic since Slackware is rather "vanilla" and doesn't usually require any patches for tweaks.

I used the automatic installer and everything works. I'll just go with that.
