cannot save kword file

I am trying to save a kword document to my new fat32 directory. I get this error message:
Code:
Could not save /home/fat/dox/Documents/politics - global/my coming out party - hawkish humanism/website/Amster (2003) Globalization and its Discontents.odt
Reason: Could not create the file for saving
So I figured I'd make the dir read and writeable for all users on my system by using:
Code:
bash-3.1# chmod
c1/ c2/ drone4four/ fat/ ftp/
bash-3.1# chmod a=rw fat
No luck. What is that Kword message trying to tell me?

I can open files from within the fat directory just fine. I'll input your command, erklaerbaer later today.

Might want to adjust KDE permissions

I had a similar problem. when i booted to the command prompt my permissions were correct (init 3). but when i booted to KDE (init 4)for some reason KDE does not always use the same permissions i set at the command prompt. i had to right click on the file and modify its properties from inside KDE and set it to allow all to read and write.
Good Luck
