Cannot connect to server.

Using Putty I cannot access my Debian server. I checked to see if it was a firewall,

netstat -nat | grep :22

result:

tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
tcp6 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN

Any suggestions? I would be grateful.

Not enough information...

Post the error message?
Can you connect on the server itself? Have you verified that ssh is running?
Are you using IP address or hostname?
Is this a real or virtual machine?
Are you trying to connect on your LAN or external IP?
