I just installed exmplayer from SlackBuilds and can not start it from my normal user. It starts if I use kdesu to run it as root but does nothing when I try to start it from the application menu. When i try to run it as nomal user from terminal I get
"bash-4.3$ /usr/bin/exmplayer
Debug: Checking for MPlayer binary...
Debug: Starting mplayer process...
Warning: QMetaObject::connectSlotsByName: No matching signal for on_sliderSeekFullSc_actionTriggered(int)
Debug: "/tmp"
Debug: Config path : "/home/greg/.config/exmplayer"
Debug: Checking for user short cut bindings... false
Debug: Loading shortcut file : "/etc/exmplayer/sc_default.xml"
Debug: Checking for deault short cut bindings... true

Debug: playerHeight :0
Debug: playerHeight :0
Debug: w_width: 600, w_height: 413
Debug: w: 600, h: 413
Segmentation fault"
I found my home folder didn't have an exmplayer folder under .config so i made one and copied the ExMplayer.ini from my root folder and changed the permissions to my normal user but that didn't have any effect.
I realize this is probably a problem I should be able to solve on my own but haven't been able to find anything helpful by Google searching.
What linux distribution are you running exmplayer on? Given the segmentation fault error you received, possibly get the source code and compile it on your system? Or have you already done that?
As I said before it runs fine if I start it with kdesu so the application itself seems fine, I just don't know where the issue lies when trying to run it as a regular user.
I'm assuming that the problem is a defective Slackbuild as I've had the same result on two other systems I've built it on.
Has anyone else tried to see if it would work on their systems?
Your post isn't the first issue of exmplayer we've seen on here, but the last person didn't continue with diagnosing (or solved it and didn't respond how).
Thank you guys.
Bassmadrigal, Mplayer works perfectly and so does ExMplayer if I start it with "kdesu exmplayer", I can then open a video file and have both sound and video, it's only when I try and open it through the start menu application launcher or from terminal as normal user that it segfaults so I assume the application itself is fine.
Since this seems to be a rare issue I think I'm gonna just move on, thanks again guys.
Thank you Bassmadrigal, I have been using both VLC and Smplayer for years myself. I had just noticed Exmplayer for the first time in Slackbuilds and was simply curious.
