Can't see my cdrom drive atapi

I try to install slackware 9.
Usually I have to use boot disk but sometimes I can boot from the cd and even in this case I can't install all what I want.
Setup install some package, and I see that my cdrom drive is working well but after a while it stop and I can't finnish the installation. It's not even possible to open the cdrom drive.
I know that my cdrom drive (ATAPI TATUNG CD-1216E) works very well (I can install mandrake from it).

I have a very similar problem, where I can boot from the cd but the install program can't find the cd rom when it asks for the source. Were you able to resolve your problem? if so could you post the solution?

thanks,
