It'd be interesting to try, I may very well in the future...

For now, however, I returned to Office Max to find SINGLE layer DVDs also on sale, for under $2, and I'm burning the iso to one of 'em as I type.

All in all, I spent less on 2 packages of DVDs, one double layer and one single, each including 10 DVDs, than I would have if I'd gone with the proper ones the first time, so I'm happy. Thanks for all the help, though, this thread may very well be useful in the future to me or to somebody else.
